Whether you are desperate to become the greatest ringer ever, or if you only want to know what it's all about, it doesn't matter... Anybody of any age can learn to ring, and you would be most welcome at almost any tower in the world.
If you want to know more, find your closest ring of bells and contact the tower captain. Dove's Guide allows you to search for all towers with bells, and will hopefully list contact details, website and practice night. If these details are not included on Dove, then look under "Affiliation" for the website of your area's Guild or Association. You should be able to find some contact details that way.
If Durham Cathedral is your closest tower, then contact Christopher Crabtree.
At Durham Cathedral, we practice on Thursday evenings, with a simulated practices for learners from 6:20 to 7:30, and "open" practices from 7:30pm until 9:00pm. We enter the Cathedral from a side entrance, so email Rachael and she can explain where to meet.
If you're in Durham, but Thursday nights are not ideal for you, get in touch with Chris and he can point you in the direction of one of the other Durham towers - there are practice nights in Durham on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday as well!
